Learning in the Garden
Supporting teachers with the integration of edible gardens and vegie patches into the classroom curriculum. Hands on activities to help students learn about food and fibre production.

Biodiversity Up Close
Designed for teachers and Landcare/Community Group members to support the integration of Biodiversity and Sustainable Land Management themes into schools curriculum. Includes how to undertake simple biodiversity audits of school grounds.

Creating Sustainable Futures
Introducing participants to OBLIQUE inspirations®, designed to enable creative self-inquiry and development of a deeper understanding of sustainability in relationship to self, others, and the world.

2008 Geography Teachers Association of Victoria Conference (10th - 12th August)
LandLearn will be presenting four sessions introducing fieldwork, teacher and learning resources:

professional development session
  • Assessing human impact on the environment (workshop) - introducing curriculum linked tools supporting students to describe human and physical characteristics of an area, collect and record data obtained through field surveys and develop recommendations for protecting the environment.
  • Murray Darling Basin case study in the Shepparton Irrigation Region (workshop) - introducing LandLearn's fieldtrip that investigates change over time and the impact of natural and human processes on water use and management in the region.
  • LandLearning in Geography (workshop) - introducing simple and interactive VELS-linked activities which support teaching of sustainability topics in the geography classroom at Levels 3 - 6.
  • Keep It Clean - a journey through the upper Yea catchment (fieldtrip) - this fieldtrip follows the Yea River from Toolangi State Forest to the Goulburn River investigating the diverse land uses in the catchment, their impacts on the river and its water quality, and the monitoring and management strategies in place.
