To register for these Professional Development opportunities go to www.landlearn.net.au > teacher support and PD and download the fliers and registration forms.  Alternatively to register your interest to host or attend a LandLearn PD in 2008 around the theme of sustainable agriculture, school vegetable gardens, biodiversity or the Creating Sustainable Futures Program please contact us via e-mail on landlearn.program@dpi.vic.gov.au.

LandLearn goes outdoors
LandLearn inspired teachers to think about their connection to sustainability and their place in nature at the National Outdoor Education Conference on the 21st of September in Ballarat. The workshop introduced teachers to our OBLIQUE inspirations® cards. The workshop, which was expected to have 12 participants, swelled to 34 attendees and included teachers from New Zealand, Tasmania, South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

Feedback indicated that the workshop allowed participants to think differently and gain a deeper understanding of their connection to sustainability. Attendees also believe the cards would help students to think about the future and what today’s actions will mean for the future health of the environment.

Water and Food: thinking futures
…another new resource from LandLearn
The Irrigation Futures Cooperative Research Centre based at DPI Tatura recently investigated the opportunities and challenges for irrigated agriculture in the Goulburn Broken Catchment, using scenario planning methodology.  The new resource incorporates findings from the research and suggests ways to use scenario planning in the classroom, and includes the updated fieldtrip, Lower Goulburn Broken Catchment - a Murray Darling Basin case study.
Suitable for VCE Geography, Agricultural and Horticultural Studies, Outdoor and Environmental Studies, and VELS Level 6 Geography, Science and Civics and Citizenship.
