In
2005 the LandLearn team participated in a pioneering,
art-based program of personal and professional
development to explore ways of seeing, thinking
about, and understanding sustainability. This
unique project produced innovative thinking tools
and a suite of professional development experiences
for teachers. Their purpose is to inspire inquiry
and generate insight into how your mind and heart
see, understand and 'do' sustainability in its
broadest sense - in relation to yourself, to others
and to the world.
Reactions
from teachers who have participated in workshops
are varied and positive about their relevance
and usefulness personally, in school settings
and beyond.

"I
had been expecting a workshop on ideas to
create a sustainable world - with more traditional
focus (eg recycling, use of green shopping
bags) so I could take the strategies back
to school but this was much more valuable
and meaningful!" |
| » |
"I
was interested in sustainability as a notion.
I wasn't expecting the workshop to cover what
it did but it was a great experience and encouraged
reflection." |
| » |
"I
can see that these ideas would get students
really thinking…we are re-writing our curriculum
in line with VELS so the ideas and methods
are very relevant." |
| » |
"Sustainability
- it's our future! Good for the soul. Thanks,
I feel quite invigorated." |
| » |
"Sustainability
is a journey that I am travelling along with
my school. Teachers and students need to be
interested in sustainability as a personal
journey." |
