Victorian Essential Learning Standards Domains and (Levels):

Science (3,4,5)

Activities focussed on investigating and growing plants, both inside the classroom and in the school grounds, provide hands on learning experiences. They contribute to a meaningful, holistic environment education program, helping students develop an understanding of where their food and fibre comes from and providing the opportunity to care for, and interact with the soils and plants so the students are more likely to connect with their environment.

The following activities can be undertaken with basic equipment and easily accessed resources; are lots of fun for students; can involve parents and provide the focus of links to other schools, community resources and special events.

The booklet 'Plant Power' contains more plant-based activities. It is available from LandLearn staff.
