Ryan
regularly creates designs for ground water pumps
and completes research on the design of levee
maintenance.

The
majority of Ryan's work relies heavily on team
work, however each member of the team has various
individual responsibilities also.

Ryan
eventually hopes to work his way into a project management
role.
BACKGROUND:
Grew
up where?
Ryan
grew up in Shepparton and feels that growing up in agricultural
surroundings definitely had an influence on his career
choice. He developed an understanding of the importance
of land sustainability and of the environmental impacts
that are associated with land clearance and irrigation
schedules.

studied:
Tertiary
/post secondary:
Bachelor
of Applied Science (Environmental Engineering) at the
University of Melbourne.
Secondary:
Ryan
says his subjects at secondary school prepared him well
for his engineering course. He completed two maths,
physics and chemistry.
Work
experience:
Ryan
completed plenty of course related work experience at
Goulburn Murray Water, and AWT Surveying.
OPPORTUNITIES:
Further
study:
Ryan
has an opportunity to complete his PhD in Engineering.
Learning
on job, new skills, etc.
Being
a Graduate Engineer exposes Ryan to all work tasks with
in the organisation.
Travel,
etc.
Sinclair
Knight Merz is a worldwide organisation, consequently
there are opportunities to travel. However for the time
being Ryan travels around northern Victoria.

on maths and sciences, as these subjects will allow
you to move on to most tertiary studies."
